2. Eligibility and age requirement

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use woords.social. By using the platform, you confirm that you meet this minimum age requirement and that you have the legal capacity to agree to these terms.

  • Accounts for people under 16 are not permitted.
  • We may ask for reasonable age confirmation where necessary.
  • If we believe an account does not meet this requirement, we may restrict or remove it.

3. Accounts and account security

You are responsible for ensuring that the information you provide is accurate and up to date. You are also responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that takes place under your account.

  • You must not impersonate another person or organisation.
  • You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to another account.
  • You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

You agree to use woords.social lawfully and respectfully. You must not use the platform to harass others, distribute unlawful material, interfere with the service, or engage in activity that could harm other users or the platform itself.

  • No abusive, threatening, hateful, or unlawful conduct.
  • No spam, fraud, phishing, or deceptive behaviour.
  • No attempts to disrupt, probe, or undermine platform security.
  • No automated scraping or misuse of the service without permission.

5. Moderation and enforcement

We may moderate content and platform activity to help protect users, enforce these terms, comply with legal obligations, and preserve the security and integrity of woords.social. Moderation may include reviewing reports, restricting visibility, removing content, suspending features, or suspending or terminating accounts.

  • We may investigate suspected breaches of these terms.
  • We may remove or restrict content that is unlawful, abusive, or harmful.
  • Repeated or serious breaches may result in account suspension or permanent removal.

6. User content

You retain ownership of content you submit, post, or transmit through woords.social. By using the service, you grant us the limited rights necessary to host, store, process, and display that content for the purpose of operating and improving the platform.

You are responsible for the content you post and must ensure that you have the right to share it. We may remove content that breaches these terms or that presents legal, security, or operational risk.

7. Payments and paid features

Some parts of woords.social may be offered on a paid basis, including subscriptions, upgrades, or other paid features. If you purchase a paid feature, you agree to pay all applicable charges presented to you at the time of purchase.

  • Prices, billing terms, and feature availability may change from time to time.
  • Unless stated otherwise, fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • You are responsible for providing valid payment information and keeping it up to date.
  • We may suspend paid features if payment is unsuccessful or reversed.

8. Privacy and security

We take privacy and security seriously. Chats are encrypted at rest in the database, and we aim to apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards to protect user data. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and you use the platform with that understanding.

Important

These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal data is collected, used, stored, and handled.

9. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including operating the platform, maintaining security, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, complying with legal obligations, and establishing or defending legal claims.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of data and the reason we hold it. Where UK law requires us to retain certain information for longer, we may do so. When data is no longer required, we will delete it, anonymise it, or securely restrict its use, as appropriate.

10. Account deletion

You may request deletion of your account, subject to any legal, security, fraud-prevention, or operational reasons that require us to retain certain information for a longer period. Deleting your account may remove or disassociate profile information, content, and access to platform features.

  • Some data may remain in backups or secure logs for a limited period.
  • Some information may be retained where required by law or for legitimate legal or security reasons.
  • Content shared with others may remain visible where technically or operationally necessary.

11. Availability and changes

We may update, suspend, or change features of woords.social from time to time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the service, and we may perform maintenance, security work, or platform improvements that affect access.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate access to woords.social if we reasonably believe that you have breached these terms, created risk for other users, exposed the platform to legal or security issues, or used the service in a way that is harmful or unlawful.

13. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, woords.social is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We disclaim warranties not expressly stated in these terms. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from use of the platform, except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

14. Dispute handling

If you have a complaint or dispute relating to woords.social, you should first contact us directly so we can try to resolve the matter informally and in good faith. Where appropriate, we may consider other forms of dispute resolution before court proceedings.

Nothing in these terms prevents either party from seeking urgent legal remedies where necessary. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it will be handled in accordance with the governing law and jurisdiction section below.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, unless another mandatory legal framework applies. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms or the use of woords.social will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
